The visionary Head at Plumcroft wished to create a unique playground experience for the pupils, using Fast Track Funding to ensure that no opportunity was missed during the design process. The aim was to deliver a space that would inspire creativity, encourage active play and enhance the overall school environment.

The resulting playground is one of the most innovative play experiences you could wish to explore, with a London Underground Tube Carriage incorporated into the playground, along with outdoor gym equipment, sports markings and play value added into the surface design. These features provide a mix of physical activity, imaginative play and social interaction for pupils of all ages.

Spread across separate areas around the school, the variety in design, shape and application reinforce the old adage that the only limit in surfacing design is one’s own imagination. The vibrant, exciting and stimulating facilities are enjoyed by the entire School, come rain or shine, supporting year-round use and consistent engagement.

Richard Slade, the Headteacher at Plumcroft Primary School said “The ideas behind this playground were built up between my head of PE, myself, Notts Sports and the installers Playcubed. I found all of them extremely helpful, professional and forward looking in this process.

My vision was to make this school a place that anyone walking past would say ‘I want my child to go to that school’ and after the changes made over this summer I feel confident that this is undoubtedly the case.”
