Sighthill Park Playground Surfacing Project
Glasgow City Council appointed Notts Sport to design and supply state-of-the-art play spaces as part of the ongoing £250m regeneration of Sighthill, Glasgow. This major project aims to transform the area, improving connections across the M8 to the city centre while delivering new homes, a school and high-quality outdoor environments for the local community.
As part of this redevelopment, Notts Sport was tasked with creating innovative and engaging playgrounds that would enhance the public realm and provide long-term value. Designed with both safety and creativity in mind, the new play areas offer a welcoming and inclusive space for children and families to enjoy.
The completed playgrounds feature modern design elements, incorporating a variety of colours using VHAF NottsSward to create visually striking and stimulating environments. Using the ChildsPlay playground surfacing system, Glasgow City Council could be confident in a solution that is durable, vandal-resistant and designed to perform in high-use public spaces.
The ChildsPlay systems installed range from ChildsPlay Recreation through to ChildsPlay 300, providing critical fall height protection of up to 3.0 metres. This ensures a safe play environment around a wide range of equipment while maintaining a consistent, high-quality finish across the site.
Notts Sport’s expertise in designing dynamic and inclusive play areas has created a space that encourages active play, social interaction and community engagement. The new playgrounds play a key role in supporting the wider regeneration vision, helping to create a vibrant and accessible neighbourhood.
“We are excited to contribute our expertise in creating engaging play areas that cater to the needs of Sighthill residents,” said Shaun Patrick, Chairman of Notts Sport. “We believe in the power of play to inspire, unite and enrich communities.”
The Sighthill play areas were completed and opened earlier this year, marking a significant milestone in the regeneration project.
